YADI SIXX WINS VOICES ON VAX VERSUS CONTEST

Baltimore youth prove once again that this city has talent, as rapper Yadi Sixx took the grand prize in the Voices on Vax Versus Contest Friday evening. Organized by Voices on Vax Youth Ambassadors Sydney Johnson, James Gaither Jr. and Taylor Clinton, the contest asked Baltimore youth to create a one-minute piece including singing, rapping, poetry, dance, art or short films to describe what life is like now living with Covid.

The Grand Prize was $1,000, with $500 for Second Place and $250 for Third Place. Winners were determined during Friday’s live competition, where each entry was shared, and the audience voted in real time for the winner. The 10 contestants all showed a great range of creativity from the choreography of Dimonte Holland, short film by Sydney Sharp and the poetry of Charity Fisher.

Yadi Sixx was the audience favorite, taking home the $1,000 with her rhymes. Taybandz is also featured in the Hip Hop Public Health Community Immunity video “Teen Takeover.” Local rapper Beats took home the $500 second-place prize. Third place came out in a tie between Ihsane Adeddain’s poem and Sydney Sharp’s short film.

Please check back early next week when we share the contest video and more information about our winners. .
